• Wear whatever you feel comfortable in. Flat shoes or trainers with a smooth sole are the best footwear so that you can slide a little on the floor.

  • No! We rotate partners throughout the lesson, so you don’t need to have a partner.

  • Swing dancing is an improvised dance. Although we often learn routines in classes, the aim is to be able to dance socially without a set pattern. The leader is the person who is more in control of what happens. They initiate any movement. The follower’s job is to read and interpret the leader’s intention. Leaders and followers are not gender based - you can choose either role.

  • We run beginner courses in 6 week blocks, so beginners need to commit to 6 classes. If you can’t make a class, don’t worry, we will help you catch up! Once you progress and become a Level 2 dancer, you can attend classes on a drop in basis.

  • Level 1 dancers need to book a 6 week course in advance.

Level 2 and 3 can choose to book courses or to pay as you go (drop in)

  • Social dancing is where people ask eachother to dance, and have fun trying out the moves and stylings learned in lessons. It is a time when people can either dance, or just socialise and get to know each-other. Time is set aside for social dancing on Wednesdays between 8.15 and 8.45.
